Perforation axle for acoustic panels

Function

Perforation axle for acoustic panels

Technical Challenges

The perforations are evenly spaced holes on the surface of the acoustic panels. Their function is to trap and absorb sound waves emitted by the engine, reducing noise. For large-scale production of this part, several steps are implemented. First, the general shape is preformed from a wire coil using a multi-module cold heading machine, ensuring the concentricity of the head in relation to the rod. A second operation shapes the other pointed end concentrically to the part. To complete the process, the axle is hardened to 56 HRc, followed by an electrolytic nickel plating, which reduces friction and limits oxidation according to the specifications.
